Head coach - Phil Mansfield
Phil Mansfield is the brains behind this project, and he will help you to reach your goal quickly and safely. Phil is educated in personal training, sports science, biomechanics, psychology and nutrition.
Besides his theoretical background, Phil has wide-ranging practical experience which he can draw on when leading you to your goal.
Assistant coach - Mads Bang
Mads has been an elite triathlete for 7 years which gives him a huge amount of experience in training and competing. In 2013 Mads made his Ironman debut and qualified for the Ironman world championship in Hawaii. In 2014 his focus was on the Half Distance and again he qualified for the world championship in Half Distance in Canada.
This year Mads has worked hard and has qualified for Hawaii 2016. His goal is now a top placement among the age groupers before making it into the pro ranks.
Mads was self-coached until the end of 2014, which has given him experience and knowledge of programme design. At some point every athlete arrives at the conclusion that to move forward they need to be coached. After a short period where improvements were hard to come by, Mads realized that the knowledge he had was no longer enough. He found his perfect coaching match in Phil Mansfield.
The programmes will be written and managed by Phil, but day-to-day contact will be with Mads. Mads’ enthusiasm and drive and Phil’s unrivaled knowledge will see you to a great Half Ironman debut.
